The Administration’s and employees’ tireless efforts, in the context of flexible and efficient administration, have given an extraordinary potential.

The Administration has placed emphasis on the financial development and protection of the company and has shown significant positive performance in the past years. The complete financial resolution of the company is now a fact. The Kavala Port Authority S.A. has now the ability to implement its investment and strategy planning without problems.

The strategy and sub-actions stated below are under constant observation, consultation, evaluation and redetermination, in order to be in accord with the given needs and goals they must serve. Especially important projects and investments have been completed, or are in progress or are to be approved by the competent Ministries in the ports for which the Kavala Port Authority S.A. is responsible.

We have completed the modernization procedure of the organizational structure of the Kavala Port Authority S.A. (Regulations of Internal Organization and Operation, Position Outline and Assessment System).

We have proceeded to the land registration of public real property that concerns the terrestrial zone of the port, in cooperation with the Directorate of Public Property.

We have completed the expected procedures for the declassification of parts of the terrestrial zone of the Port of Kavala, which are not necessary for the operational needs of the Kavala Port Authority. S.A., so that they can further be granted to the Municipality of Kavala.

We have signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Port of Alexandria Egypt.

We have completed the “SEA2SEA” action, objective of which is the strategic study and development of an inter-modal transport network between the Ports of Kavala and Alexandroupolis and the Ports of Burgas and Varna.

In cooperation with the Municipality of Kavala, the Regional Unit of Kavala and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Kavala, we participate in actions for the increase of cruise tourism.

We have proceeded to the improvement of the security and monitoring system in the ports of international interest of our responsibility, according to the international security code ISPS.

We have proceeded to the replacement of conventional lamps with LED lamps in all ports of our responsibility.

The procedure concerning the recruitment for covering two administration positions is almost completed.

The recruitment of a permanent pilot for the Pilotage Authority has been completed.

The effort for a qualitative improvement of the provided services is persistent and the interventions for the optimization of the environment for users are constant.

In 2016 two important interdependent projects were completed. It concerns the 80 metres shielding and expansion of the windward mole of a total budget of 15 million Eur.

The project “construction of floating installations” of about 2.5 million Euro budget was completed in July 2016. (Regional Administration of East Macedonia and Thrace). The docking of about 210 touristic and sports boats is now possible. At the same time we have proceeded to various interventions, in order to have a safer and more functional project concerning the floating installations and in order to have more modern services provided to the users.

According to a Joint Ministerial Decision, the Kavala Port Authority S.A. has granted a building that will house the fire department of the Kavala Port.

In consultation with the National Emergency Aid Center (EKAB), we made a space in the passengers’ area available for a 24 hours first aid administration, at least during the summer.

In August 2016 we completed the project concerning the seabed cleaning of sediment, the installation of buffers, the water supply on the windward mole, thus increasing the docking places for cruise ships.

In October 2017 the strategic environmental impact assessment of the Port was approved.

In spring of 2018 the parking study was approved.

In December 2018 the study concerning the project “platform and windward mole expansion, as well as electromechanical network in the terrestrial zone of Ichthioskala (Fish auction center), in the Central Port of Kavala”, of a total budget of 300,000 Euro, was admitted to the Public Investment Programme of the Ministry of Mercantile Marine and Island Policy.

We are expecting the environmental impact assessment of the port.

In cooperation with the Municipality of Kavala, the proposal was approved by the Regional Administration of East Macedonia and Thrace, in the context of the Sustainable Urban Development Strategy, concerning the electric lighting network, power and water supply of ships at berth, installation of industrial floor and installation of buffers on the windward mole, of a total budget of 1,250,000 Euro plus VAT, which are all necessary infrastructure for the docking of cruise ships. We are expecting the Port Planning and Development Committee to approve the amendment of the General Programme Project, concerning use of land, so that we can proceed to the amendment of the Environmental Impact Study Strategy of the Port, in order to finally achieve the issuance of a Presidential Decree.

The project concerning the exploitation of the old storage houses that can be changed into a modern multipurpose center, where a cruise terminal will also be created, is in the stage of implementation.

We aim at the transfer of the services of the Kavala Port Authority S.A., the Central Port Authority of Kavala, the 2^nd Regional Hellenic Coast Guard Administration and the Pilotage Authority in the building of the customs storage houses, located within the terrestrial zone of the Kavala Port, in order to take advantage of the building that houses the Kavala Port Authority S.A., the Central Port Authority of Kavala and private individuals, as a hotel, thus achieving multiple benefits for the Organisation and the local community.

We expect the integration of the project “widening and expansion of the leeward mole of the Kavala Port APOSTOLOS PAVLOS”, of a total budget of 351,766.70 Eur. in the Public Investment Programme of the Ministry of Mercantile Marine and Island Policy.

We expect the decision of approval of the Ministry of Mercantile Marine and Island Policy, concerning the completion of the project “reconstruction of a part of the terrestrial zone at the point of the Averof Street.” The project of a total budget of 887,000 Euro will be 100% funded by the Regional Administration of East Macedonia and Thrace.

In the near future, we are completing the update of the technical file, according to Act 4568/2018, for the authorization of a water airport.

We have prepared a technical statement and study concerning the investigation of alternative siting possibilities for the tourist port and we will make it available for public consultation in the Development Conference that we are planning for next June, celebrating the one hundred years of the Port Commission – Port Authority – Kavala Port Authority, and showing their historic contribution and our development planning for the present and the future of our ports.font-awesome
